New DVD and Blu-Ray Releases to Crave: Bieber Needs No Strings Attached for a Blue Valentine

Hopefully you're ready to catch Bieber fever... or some other frightening disease, because I shudder that the week's top offering is also the highest-grossing concert film of all time.

1) I'm talking about Justin Bieber: Never Say Never - and tweens the world over swoon! Hey, I appreciate that he can make a joke at his own expense and he wasn't so bad on his guest CSI stint (even if he was "a brat") but there is no way in the nine hells you're ever going to get me to sit down and watch this one. Screaming fans and lonely adults can have their fill. I'll stay far away from this one.

2) One movie that I would be interested to see is Blue Valentine. This is a serious drama and I think that Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling look excellent in their roles. With the big stink over the ratings, it only piqued my interest even more.

3) The other big release for the week is the romantic comedy No Strings Attached. The draw of Natalie Portman can't outweigh my disdain for Ashton Kutcher. This is an odd pairing and while it doesn't look like it would be the worst rom-com ever, I really have no interest in this one.

4-5) Two foreign films round out my top five. First up is the French animated film The Illusionist. It's from the same director as The Triplets of Bellville, a films I enjoyed, and this looks to be another visual treat. The second film is the Korean film I Saw the Devil. It's a revenge drama with plenty of violence but heavy emotional impact. I just hope it can match up with my favorite revenge drama of all time Oldboy - if it can approach that mark, I will be satisfied.

On the Blu-Ray front, some classic action is up first with the release of Some Like It Hot. The classic comedy featuring some of the finest cross-dressing (not to mention one of the greatest lines in movie history) is actually a film that deserves to be upgraded. There are also a slew of late 80s to mid-90s middle-of-the-road films - the "best" of which look to be V.I. Warshawski and Another Stakeout, but they are cheap, so if you want to broaden your movie collection, may as well take the low-cost upgrade now.
