This has been a big year for superheroes - Captain Marvel and Shazam! have proven both the MCU and DCEU are on the right track but, as good as they were, they were also the mere appetizers for what is likely going to be the biggest film of 2019: Avengers: Endgame. The 22nd film in the MCU - and the culmination of the previous 21, has no competition and should break all kinds of records in the process. And, in the coming weeks, is going to crush the box office.

AVENGERS:ENDGAME How big will Avengers: Engame be? That is the only question you need to ask yourself before the weekend. With one snap of his fingers, Thanos changed the MCU forever in the monster Avengers: Infinity War. And while half of the universe disappeared from existence, the remaining heroes now have to cope with this loss - as well as trying to make things right. For those keeping score, our living lineup includes Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Bruce Banner/Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson, back again after Thor: Ragnarok), Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Clint Barton/Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner MIA in Infinity War, but has a big part to play here), James Rhodes/War Machine (Don Cheadle) and the newly-introduced Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson). It will be interesting to see how Rudd is brought back since the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp had him trapped in the quantum realm. I've avoided any and all spoilers for this, other than the official trailers, so I know somewhat how things play out - and it doesn't look good for Thanos (Josh Brolin). Even with a good chunk of heroes missing, the remaining are even more determined to set things right. Early reviews have been overwhelmingly positive - it currently sits at 97% on Rotten Tomatoes - and, in China, it launched to a $100 million plus opening - the biggest opening of all time in that country, which is also very good news. All signs point to Endgame being a game-changer, on both domestic and global scale, and why not? What other series can boast 22 films, 22 strong films at that and a rabid legion of fans who want to see how it all winds up.

Come Sunday, we'll find out just how powerful the MCU really is - and how much money Endgame is going to take in.
