With freshness and thought-provoking ideas, "The Girl With All the Gifts" proves a zombie film can use its brain and eat it too.

While the film shares a number of similarities with The Last of Us, it still managed to surprise me, thanks in no small part to the excellent acting from newcomer Sennia Nanua wo portrays our girl with all the gifts as equally polite, intelligent and bloodthirsty. Plus, where else are you going to see Glenn Close in a friggin zombie movie? It doesn't really do the horror well, but it makes you think - and that's more important anyway, right? Plus that ending, it's worth the effort.
