I am no fan of romance, but my mom forced me to see this movie and I was not disappointed.

The movie is about an explorer (Ralph Fiennes) who crashes with his plane, shot by nazis, and recovers in Italy while under the help of a young nurse (Juilette Binoche) who has lost her best friend and moves into an unused castle where she takes care of the explorer. There he tells her his story...

The movie was awarded with NINE academy awards. Including "Best Picture" and "Best Director", which I find fair. This movie is directed sooo lovely and beautiful. The directors name is Anthony Minghella who also directed "The talented Mr. Ripley", which was a great movie. Unfortunately, mr. Minghella is dead now.
The cinematography is also beautiful. So is the art direction and the score. …

The make-up done for Almásy's burns is absolutely fantastic. The wounds seem real enough to feel true pain for him. There are many great visuals in the film as well. Lots of beautiful sand dunes and skies.

I feel like I'm not really doing this film justice, as it really is better than I'm letting on. I think its given score …
