The Dilemma review

Businessman Ronny (Vaughn) and genius engineer Nick (James) got a deal to create an engine for Chrysler. Geneva (Winona Ryder) is the wife of Nick while Beth (Jennifer Connelly) is the girlfriend of Ronny. Susan Warner (Queen Latifah) manages and gives tips to Ronny and Nick. Screenplay had some iffy and cheesy lines mixed with realistic lines such as “So my point is, you can really think you know somebody, and it turns out you don’t know everything about somebody.” and “People make mistakes in life.” Soundtrack and direction were acceptable. Director could have made a conclusion for Geneva’s character and a less Hollywoodlike ending after what the group of friends had to go through. As a self confessed Winona admirer, her talents were showcased again though in a fairly decent flick. Topics on fidelity, marriage, ambition, communication, trust and friendship were evident. Cinematography was good, which showcased the beauty of the city while the humor was present, though it felt lacking and dry. The Dilemma is a simple premise that could have been resolved from the very start, if it did though we wouldn’t have a movie to view.
