Enduring Love

Less Than the Sum of Its Parts

I've heard repeatedly that this film is a poor representation of a stellar book. Having not read the book, I can only judge the film on its own merit -- and I find it unfortunately lacking. The acting, especially from Daniel Craig and Samantha Morton, is quite good, and the unusual (perhaps uneven?) pacing of the film helps establish an unsettling rhythm in the mind of the audience. But the filmmakers took a very cheap way out of what could have been a complex and compelling setup, reducing the final moments of the story to a cliche. (Again, I understand the ending varies between the film and the book -- perhaps worth investigating further...)
