The Long Walk

A very solid adaptation that shines mainly due to the chemistry between Cooper Hoffman and David Jonsson - as well as a knock-out villain performance from Mark Hamill. Based on the novella, The Long Walk takes place in an alternate dystopian USA - one that has fallen on severe economic depression and in order to raise the spirits, 50 young men from each state take part in competition where they walk - 3 miles an hour - until one remains. They "winner" gets a pile of cash and a single wish. The meat of the film isn't the violent deaths along the way, but the brotherhood formed on the road. Plus, I didn't mind the changed ending - it was even more powerful that way.
