Beyond the Valley of the Dolls

Logan D. McCoy - wrote on 06/22/25

This bizarrely exotic brainchild of sleaze maestro Russ Meyer and celebrated film critic Roger Ebert can best be summed up as the movie of the 60s that Robert Altman's "Nashville" was to the 70s. "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" is a distillment of the sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll age that starts out harmless enough, before revealing its darkside in the form of violence, disillusionment with fame, and offbeat parody referencing everyone from Phil Spector to the Mandon Family cult.
