Some potentially interesting messages without a convincing or remotely suspenseful movie built around them, the painfully pretentious "Leave the World Behind" is too superficial to be the pseudo-smart psychological thriller it tries so hard to imitate. It's too bad it doesn't even have the gall to be as hilariously atrocious as "The Happening."
