Pan

A Peter Pan Prequel That Fails to Entertain

Going into the movie, I wasn't expecting much from Pan. I feel that telling a story about Peter Pan, even if it is an origin story, does feel a little weak. But the more I think about it, the more I feel that a story like that could put in some fresh air. Unfortunately, it felt like this movie has done everything that it can to not be a good movie, which is a shame because I feel that there are some people who I feel are actually trying in what ultimately is a failed project. The story, obviously, is about how Peter Pan came to Neverland and became the person we all know and love. I will give the movie this there are moments where I felt actually did work. There are some settings that looked pretty cool and I feel that the actor who played the titular character, Levi Miller, could make a good Peter. Also, I honestly think the guy who played James Hook wasn't half bad, but I think that's a personal preference. Everything else, especially from a screenwriting and visual stand point, is appalling. One huge aspect of the movie that personally drove me nuts is that they turned Peter Pan, the boy who never grew up, into a prophesied child. This wouldn't bother me as much if it wasn't for the fact that the majority of the plot hinges around on that aspect. It felt lazy and they made him more important than they should. On top of that, the CGI, the special effects in this movie sucks. Most of the creatures and stunt work look so incredibly fake and even laughable that it took me out of the experience. Overall, Pan is not a good movie by any means. I suggest that you skip it, even if you are a fan of Peter Pan.
