Funny People

Sandler Makes It Happen Once Again

This is just the type of comedy I like, and that is why I love Adam Sandler. Unlike certain actors who have to resort to ridiculous slapstick humor and farce pretty much all the time (cough cough Ben Stiller....although I could have killed Sandler for that Zohan thing he did) Sandler knows how the to captures the art of subtle, dry humor...or just saying things that are plain funny. He has truly matured as an actor from the days of Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore. Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill are always consistently funny (especially Jonah) and that stays true for this film. The drama also hits home in Funny People. The idea of these "funny people" being stricken with all of these issues was definitely interesting to watch. I think this was a really good movie. People need to be more open minded. I don't think the title of the movie should be taken so literally. If you are expecting this to be a knee slapping comedy, then yes, you will be disappointed. But if you watch this movie for the "dramedy" that it is, you'll really like it.
