I can't quite get past how much of a missed opportunity "Clown" is. This could have, and should have been a really disturbing human tragedy, like David Cronenberg's "The Fly." It could have dug just a little deeper and pull out not only visceral terror but psychological terror and make something really uniquely scary. But it is what it is, and what it is is a well shot horror film with some pretty bad jump scares, a silly idea that remains silly throughout, and characters about as interesting as the remains of a popped balloon animal.
