Writer Alex (Ben Stiller) and Nancy (Drew Barrymore) play a young Manhattan based couple who has just bought their first home together for a real bargain and within their price range. But as with most things, getting something for cheap means there's a catch: enter their rent controlled elderly tenant Mrs. Connelly who appears to be a harmless little old lady paying a measly $88 a month for her spacious apartment. She proves to be a Granny from Hell making their lives miserable but they can't kick her out due to rent control laws. Mrs. C demands Alex's help with the plumbing, the shopping, and more, making it difficult for him to finish his second novel at home until the two decide that Mrs. Connelly has to go-permanently. Unfortunately this is one old lady who knows how to survive in the city and proves herself a tough nut to crack.
This is a dark comedy with some great gags and laugh out loud moments!
