New Movies to Crave: Potter Mania Strikes Again

Technically there are two new films being released, but I can guarantee only one will shoot to the top.

1) That would be Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Pt. 1. Expect a legion of fans, some may even be dressed up, to descend upon theaters and ravenously take in the (first part of the) last Harry Potter film. It's hard to say if records will be broken, but I can say without a doubt it will be #1.

2) Going up against the wizard titan franchise will be Russell Crowe and Elizabeth Banks with Paul Haggis directing in The Next Three Days. I admit the story looks interesting and the pacing looks excellent, but in the face of Potter and crew I think second place would be nice, though with some strong competition even that may be hard to accomplish. Still big names can draw in crowds, so we'll see.

3) If you want to be all high class and happen to live in or around a bigger city, in limited release you can enjoy Made in Dagenham about the 1968 female strike at a Ford plant over sexual discrimination or Nothing Personal about one woman's journey in the lush Irish countryside as she deals with the world through pain, anger and rejection until she forms an uneasy relationship with a hermit.

We'll see how the wizard works out, but I expect some impressive numbers and am personally looking forward to the film.
