New Movies to Crave: Unstoppable Train, Angry Aliens and Morning People

Can an Unstoppable train or an alien invasion topple a Megamind? That will be decided over the weekend as three contenders enter the scene to see if they can steal some thunder away from last week's winners.

1) Even though I don't think any film looks to be an absolute winner, I guess I'm going with Unstoppable as the best of the new films. Mainly because I like Denzel Washington and Chris Pine was good in Star Trek. The story looks a bit ludicrous, no matter how much "fact" it's based on. Still, it looks like they keep up plenty of tension while bringing on enough action to keep things interesting. Not a great film, but at least it's giving its all.

2) I can't say I'm even a little excited about Skyline, which looks like a ripoff between Cloverfield and Independence Day but with even jerkier characters and too much CGI. I bet it will still have decent numbers no matter how bad the critics ravage it but I don't expect to watch it until well into its rental period and even then only to bag on it mercilessly.

3) Finally, in a whole other category is the comedy Morning Glory about a morning talk show and the struggles of making a waning program into a winning program despite feuding hosts. All I can say is that if this can make it to the big screen, where's Anchorman 2?! I want me some more Ron Burgandy, not these pretty people.

Can't say I'm impressed this week - but next week I highly look forward to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 1 - and the other big release looks to be the drama/crime film The Next Three Days - but I fully expect the Potter juggernaut to bury any and all competition.
