The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)

Scary-Good

I have not seen the original but I love this remake. I've seen this picture about five or six times yet it never fails to give me the creeps. There are a plethora of cringing-and-jumping-out-of-your-seats moments along with unintentional (mixture of bona fide and uncomfortable) laughs. Every time I show this to my friends, they scream, they yell at the screen, they cover their eyes, they slide down the couch... It's just plain good times! I think Jessica Biel did a great job as the scream queen of this frightfest. She's easy to root for because five minutes into the film, she exuded heart and charisma. This film's Leatherface is scary in every level because he's visibly huge and strong. It doesn't let up from beginning to end, which is a great quality in modern horror. Most of the time, the horror in horror films are tilted either to the first half or the last half. This one manages to do both and it's quite impressive. Highly recommended.
