Halloween (2007)

A valiant effort from Zombie

After being committed for 17 years, Michael Myers, now a grown man and still very dangerous, escapes from the mental institution and immediately returns to Haddonfield, where he wants to find his baby sister, Laurie. Anyone who crosses his path is in mortal danger.

Scout Taylor-Compton, Tyler Mane, Malcom McDowell, Brad Dourif, Daeg Faerch, Sherri Moon Zombie, William Forsythe, and Udo Kier are in it. McDoweel & Moon stand out in this film...both did great jobs. The other actors/actresses were not great, but not bad as well.

The first half of the film is done pretty well. Even though I was against this remake from the begining becuase of the back story given to Michael by Zombie, he doesn't do as bad a job as I thought. Sheri Moon is great as Michael's mother. For the most part the 1st half is all Zombie...hillibily sex talk and everyone is dirty.

The 2nd half of the film is a carbon copy of the original Halloween. It's great and all, but it didnt really provide anything new except for the end, which I did not like too much. The fact that Myer's is given a backstory, even though not too bad, kind of decreased the scarniess behind the Michael Myers character. He's the boogeyman, but seeing him as a kid didn't help me jump in my seat whenever I was scared..which was never.

This film's got gore, nudity, and violence. However, if your coming to be frightned and jump into someones lap in the theater, don't come see this. Good acting, but this film is suppose to be a horror, and it lacks in that.

Cast: Scout Taylor-Compton, Tyler Mane, Malcom McDowell, Brad Dourif, Daeg Faerch, Sherri Moon Zombie, William Forsythe, Udo Kier

Directed by Rob Zombie (The Devil's Rejects, House of 1,000 Corpses)
