Now You See Me

Ruffalo Rescues Thriler

Now You See Me is a crime thriller about four magicians who are brought together by a mysterious fifth magician. The movie (despite its marketing) actually focuses more on an FBI agent (played by Mark Ruffalo) who is trying to stop them.

Mark Ruffalo is the movies saving grace (at least up until the end.) The movies script is clumsy and clunky but Ruffalo brings so much charisma and fun to his roll, that he almost single handedly makes up for it; almost.

Unfortunately the other actors seem to be running on autopilot and the inevitable twist at the end kind of ret-cons all of the good bits of the movie and render them lame.

The movie is fun, and incredibly entertaining, but it doesn’t take much pulling to make the whole thing unravel. If you like the whole Magic-Thriller genre then this is probably worth checking out, but don’t expect to be blown away.
