Plot Outline:

Follows the life of Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, an airline pilot responsible for the "Miracle on the Hudson" where he safely glided his damaged plane onto the Hudson River, saving all 155 people aboard. But beyond this one event, even a hero's life isn't always heroic and when people begin digging, it could ultimately destroy everything he has worked toward. -- Chris Kavan

Has a good story to tell, good actors to tell it, and good enough to generate intended emotion from the audience.

The main problem with Sully is not the acting (Tom Hanks is perfectly cast), but the story, which, though compelling, feels like Clint Eastwood stretched as far as he could go, despite the fact this is his shortest film to date. The part that actually showed the landing and rescue were done tastefully, but the whole investigation and trial portion dragged on far too long and yet didn't feel like it added much at the same time. A well-meaning biography of certainly an amazing event, but just never finds its footing.

cllint eastwood director and tom hanks should be a recipe for greatness. but there is no story here. its based on a true story of a plane landing safely in the river. so where is the story? its a 2 hour movie that could be told in 10 minutes. its like one of those corny lame tv films you see in the daytime. its just poor. just nothing to see here at all. watch it when its on tv and your ill and bored after its over if you can get through the boredom and corny nature of it. your soon forget about it. i felt like im being sold a empty box with this movie. its laid on thick but there's no story its like they are trying to make a drama out of a simple incident. plane has to land on the river. all survive the end. boring. and oh so corny

Sully is a solid biographical drama about the 2009 "Miracle on the Hudson". It's a short lean production at about ninety minutes. Compared with the likes of American Sniper, Clint Eastwood plays it safe with Sully. Tom Hanks' role as Captain Sullenberger is a stark contrast from the dark and brooding Chris Kyle as played by Bradley Cooper. He's the consummate professional who happened to know how to do his job at the right moment. Laura Linney and Aaron Eckhart provide fine support as his wife and copilot respectfully.

Another plane crash ...

"There was no time for calculating. I had relied on my experience of managing the altitude and speed of thousand of flights over four decades. I eyeballed it."

Respect for the pilot Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger who set down an Airbus in the middle of the Hudson River in 2009 and miraculously managed to ensure the safety of the 155 passengers. A true feat which was only possible due to his years of experience as a pilot. Otherwise, this almost impossible maneuver would never have happened. With all its consequences. And all this because of a flock of geese, who didn't know about the traffic rule involving vehicles coming from the right, and who were massively sucked into the turbine engines. As a result those engines stopped working. And that's when the sh*t hit the ...

This Flight Never Truly Takes Off

'Sully' is the new biopic from director Eastwood that recounts the events surrounding the famed "miracle on the Hudson" plane landing from back in 2009. The narrative jumps around in time a lot. First we start with the aftermath of the incident, looking at the immediate effect on the plane's captain Sully. He has nightmares about planes crashing into New York and he's being questioned by investigators on whether or not his "in the moment" actions were justified as the safest route possible (despite no death or serious injury to every person on the flight). It seems this committee of individuals is more interested in finding a flaw with his personal tactics to have reason for being upset at the loss of a giant expensive aircraft being salvaged from the river. This ...
