I have heard some Oscar buzz on this one.  I really like the trailer
but I am not sure how I feel about it.  At times, it seems to be a
little bit to PG for an Oscar pic.  But it is by the same guy who didMoulin Rouge

I have this movie on VHS, but it has no subtitles. I'm curious if anyone has any comments.

I've read all of Palahniuk's books. Fight Club was AMAZING in film form, but the book is always better than that movie. No exception here. Chuck Palahniuk's books are not for everyone, but the way he always makes Nihilism and Pessimism fun is simply mesmerizing. If you're a reader and feel like trying something new, I highly recommend his novels ("Snuff" excluded, but I'm giving him a mulligan.)

Eagle Eye

The best part of Eagle Eye is that Hal from 2001 evidently has a daughter... and she kidnaps Shia =)

I heard this movie should have been made for TV?  Or at least the story was only average.  Has anyone seen this yet?

Forbidden Planet

Wow - i can't believe that no one else wrote a review on this yet.  I just bought the DVD and it is pretty incredible if you love pure 50's sci fi like I do.This is definitely one of the best sci fi of all time...unless you can make an argument for it that it is bad?  If not, add it to your sci fi list like I did: Top Sci-Fi1. Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980)2. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)3. Matrix, The (1999)4. Blade Runner (1982)5. Forbidden Planet (1956)6. Artificial …

City of Ember

Wow, this is the first time I saw this trailer.  It actually looks good. I thought it was going to suck at first when I saw Bill Murray attached, mainly because it looked too odd - but now I see the light. Anyone heard anything about this?

Miracle at St. Anna

Hmm....not sure how good this is going to be.  Others are saying bad..but the trailer looked good.  I give this a 0% rating for now...

2001: A Space Odyssey

Franz - I agree.  I watch it for the beauty (and the realization that it was made in 1968).  It actually relaxes me to watch this movie. The first 20 minutes do suck ass to me, but the remaining movie is a beautiful site.  I do understand when people say it is boring. It just depends on what you are into - and I am into stuff like this (though I have only seen it about 3 times all the way through). It obviously reminds me of Solyaris

Good to see Proyas back in the chair.  Will he ever be able to match the complexity and seriousness of Dark City?  All of his movies are pretty good though - but I question this one.

Southland Tales

All the Kelly apologists would like you to think so, but that movie was a boring drawn out mess with a terrible cast.  I shudder to imagine what the original longer cut was like.

Marketa Lazarová

Awesome movie.  I can't imagine that a documentary crew with a time machine would be able to film something more authentic.  This reminded me of Andrei Rublev.

Nights in Rodanthe

Have you been to Rodanthe?  It's beautiful.  That's why I want to see this movie.  I'm not a big fan of The Notebook author, but Richard Gere and Diane Lane??? How can they go wrong?

Are there really any funnier movies than this?  I can't think of any.  "We're goin' streaking!"

Yes it does.  It has some psycho issues thrown in there.
