Zwei Genres

Shaun of the Dead multiplied by two.

In continuation to Edgar Wright's outstanding and surprising zombie comedy comes another extraordinary directorial effort: buddy cop spoof Hot Fuzz.

I called the title to this review 'Shaun of the Dead multiplied by two.', because that's exactly what it is. It went bigger, it went funnier, it went sillier and it went better.
Simon Pegg knows how to write a comedy. Edgar Wright knows how to direct a comedy. As a duo, they are invincible and have my respect.
Wright has a very in-your-face style, intercutting quick-shots and distorted noises to eliminate any awkward moments. While some criticize the absurdity and outrageousness of the filming, but I find it perfect.
What some comedies don't do correctly is the delivery of the jokes. They are so obsessed with the quality of the jokes …

"Hot Fuzz" by Yojimbo

Nicholas Angel is such a good cop, he's shipped off to the most law-abiding village in the country to stop him showing up the rest of the force. This brilliant pastiche of the Hollywood action movie is brought to you by the same team as Shaun Of The Dead, and has the same mix of silly one-liners, slapstick and spoofery. Transferring all of the familiar action cliches and plot devices to rural England was a masterstroke, and Pegg's obvious love of cult film and TV offers up a wealth of targets for homages, from Bad Boys II to The Stepford Wives to The Wicker Man. In many ways, Simon Pegg is the Quentin Tarantino of British film comedy; there are so many throwaway gags that it'll take multiple viewings to spot them all and I'm sure that the majority of the film references will be lost on a …

Hot Fuzz review

A dedicated cop named Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) has been transferred to another location because his qualifications are making his colleagues look silly. Danny Butterman (Nick Frost) is partnered with Nicolas, an undisciplined cop and a film buff. The Inspector tours Angel and informs him that there has been no crime in Sanford for 20 years, which in effect, always wins the award for “Village of the Year.” Angel however suspects murder in three consecutive deaths. One of the best lines on the film – Nicholas Angel – “I may not be a religious man Reverend, but I know right and I know wrong and I have the good grace to know which is which. “ Danny Butterman – “You can turn off that big melon of yours with action movies.”

The soundtrack used on the flick was …

Hot Fuzz

A must-have movie. I'm not obsessed with cop films at all but I enjoyed this spoof nonetheless. I did catch a few film references here and there but not as much as I did in "Shaun of the Dead." It's as funny as their preceeding zombie flick but maybe a bit more ambitious. After an hour and fifteen minutes, it started delving into the mystery genre, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It's as if they've turned a bunch of really bad films into a great film by means of spicing them up with a plethora of daring originality. I love how they introduce jokes that most will perceive as a one-time thing, but as it turns out, they come back later on with more powerful punches. I wish Simon Pegg would create more astute spoofs like "Hot Fuzz" and "Shaun of the Dead." How about spoofing spy films next time? …

This was a movie that skipped out of work early to ensure that I wouldn't miss it on opening night. Needless to say I was far from disappointed, this move is absolutely hilarious. Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Bill Nighy have become that newest force to contend with in the comedy spoof category of films. This being the take on the "Buddy Cop" genre of action movies, is well scripted and the physical comedy is simply amazing.
Pegg and Frost's on screen relationship is so well developed, and they make it all seem so effortless, that I wonder how much acting they really do? They obviously were having a blast, which lends itself to the film. Everything was perfect. I wouldn't change a thing. I mean I was actually laughing part of the time at nothing more than the timing of scene …

This Fuzz's for You

It seems Edgar Wright has a game plan. In Shaun of the Dead he took the zombie genre and gave it a comedic twist, while still keeping true to the spirit of horror. With Hot Fuzz, he takes the action-packed buddy cop films and does it again. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost team up once again and it?s a big part of their chemistry together that makes this film work so well.
Top London Cop Nick Angel (Pegg) is so good at his job that his superiors promote him to sergeant ? in a small country village where crime is virtually nonexistent. He is introduced to the most laid-back police force in the country as well as his new partner Danny Butterman (Frost) who spends many nights in the drunk tank ? voluntarily. The crime rate may be low, but he soon finds out the ?accident? rate is quite high. …
