Monster (2003)

Powerful piece of raw acting

MONSTER depicts the story of the woman called America's first female serial killer, Aileen Wuornos a hitchhiking prostitute who killed seven male cilents during the 1980's. The beautiful Charlize Theron undergoes one of the most amazing pyshical transformation since Robert DeNiro in RAGING BULL. Christina Ricci also stars in one of her best roles to date as Shelby, a troubled needy lesbian. Even though Aileen is not gay, she is drawn to Shelby and Aileen fasinates her. Selby throws Aileen off with her naive but sincire affection.

MONSTER is an unblinking disturbing portrait of a killer. In a performance that goes beyond weight gain and make-up techniques, Charlize Theron truly worthy of her Best Actress win at the oscars. Shes plays Wuornos as fearless and disturbed but she also manages to humanize this monster. This is an astonishing powerful piece of raw acting. MONSTER had me mesmerized with everything that was happening on screen. What happens in this movie is almost beyond words to describe and the performance of Theron is one of the best performances by a actress I've ever seen in a movie.

She envokes the mind and soul of this woman ansd the presence is so focus, so tense, so true that although she is a monster we feel deep sympathy for her. Ricci's character is also crucial as the character who never really comprehends her tortured spirit. Charlize Theron has been in some descent/good films before this , but we've never had any hint that she was capable of this performance in this incredible piece of work.
