Charlize Theron was amazing. Totally becoming Aileen. She was so convincing, I could barely watch the film. What puts a person in such a bad situation that they have to turn to prostitution and murder? Perhaps Aileen saw no other options. She was trying to survive the only way she knew how. Never once in the film did we see anyone who really tried to support and help her. Christina Ricci's character had her own psychological issues. This film is a must see. You may not like it, or the characters, but you can definitely learn something from it.

The fairy-tale romance feels a little out of place, but Charlize Theron and Christina Ricci's performances couldn't be more fitting.

Charlize Theron delivers a career performance by completely disappearing into a dark and tragic role. She and Christina Ricci anchor what is a thought-provoking and sad film. Theron's protagonist isn't likable, but is thoroughly intriguing and raw.

Monster. Review by Debbie

I watched this movie years ago and was as stunned by its impact then as I was now when watching it again. After watching this movie (an intense drama about a very damaged prostitute) the first time , I wanted to know more about this tortured, pitiful soul. I watched a documentary about her life and read what I could find to learn more about her life. Watching the movie, it was hard to believe this was a true story. Aileen was America's first documented serial killer, but, in spite of that, she's a very sympathetic character. The trauma in her childhood and early life and the brutal rape and torture by a client of hers, I believe, brought her to this point of no return. The trauma of the rape/ torture seemed to bring her (understandably) to a psychotic state of mind. As the story …

Monster?

Monster, is a film that absolutely shocked me when I first viewed it. The unbelievable acting transformation by Charlize Theron, and Christina Ricci is phenomenal. I am not a major fan of the crime genre and some of the scenes I found a little over the top, but overall this film is extremely well put together.

Aileen Wuorons is an extremely interesting criminal character. Her ability to cope with her murderous situations is very different from usual films that depict these situations. Never did I think this film would be able to use great psychological behaviors in a very devious but pleasurable way. The fact that just the actresses were able to put on stellar academy award winning performances with these unusual characters was enough for me to thoroughly enjoy the amazing yet …

Powerful piece of raw acting

MONSTER depicts the story of the woman called America's first female serial killer, Aileen Wuornos a hitchhiking prostitute who killed seven male cilents during the 1980's. The beautiful Charlize Theron undergoes one of the most amazing pyshical transformation since Robert DeNiro in RAGING BULL. Christina Ricci also stars in one of her best roles to date as Shelby, a troubled needy lesbian. Even though Aileen is not gay, she is drawn to Shelby and Aileen fasinates her. Selby throws Aileen off with her naive but sincire affection.

MONSTER is an unblinking disturbing portrait of a killer. In a performance that goes beyond weight gain and make-up techniques, Charlize Theron truly worthy of her Best Actress win at the oscars. Shes plays Wuornos as fearless and disturbed but she also …
