Good movie but the ending was a bit lame.

Although I really disliked the ending, which seems to take the foot off the nihilistic gas, the majority of this film is a brooding, intense thrill ride. Will Smith gives a powerful laconic performance and the vision of a deserted, monstrous apocalyptic universe is horrifyingly realized.

I knew without a doubt I would go to see this film, it was like it had to eventually be made. I'd seen "The Last Man On Earth", which was the first telling of this story. I'd seen "The Omega Man", which was the second telling of the story, and I felt it was time for an updated version, a new telling, with today's issues. Will Smith's portrayal of Robert Neville, while unique to him, managed to capture some of the other two portrayals as well. He was macho like Heston's character in the second film, weary like Price's character in the first film, and fiercely determined which was unique to his portrayal. I enjoyed the movie, I liked this adaptation of Richard Matheson's story.

Worth Seeing For The Atmosphere Alone

I am frequently disappointed by action films. They tend to be little more than excuses for elaborate fight and chase scenes with lots by the way of explosions and A-List actors and little by the way of plot or brains. I applaud I Am Legend for not being that kind of action film. Actually, it's quite the opposite. Fights and combat scenes are surprisingly scarce, but does that make I Am Legend dull? Far from it. I Am Legend's creepy and sometimes frightening atmosphere alone will keep you on your toes for a majority of the film's run time.

Robert Neville is the last person left on earth. Everyone else has been completely wiped out by an awful virus. Oh, there are people that weren't killed by the virus, such as Neville, but they've all turned into zombies, and their only …

A deserted Manhattan...could this be???

Although not having seen anything recent or new if you will lately i have been re watching films on tv that i rate and respect quite admirably. 'I Am Legend' just happens to fall in that category and was on the other evening. I have nothing but the utmost respect for actor Will Smith. Starting out as a rapper who won 4 Grammy awards then made a risky career change to actor starring in tv's 'The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air' which proved to be one of the smartest career changes that i can recall then jumping into a space craft and blowing the box office too bits with 'Independence Day' In short..there is no realm that this man cannot conquer..cut and dry! His performance in 'I Am Legend' is prime example of why he is the only actor to have 8 films of his be number one at the box office upon …

"I Am Legend" by Yojimbo

Will Smith stars as a military researcher who is seemingly the last person left on Earth trying to find the cure for an engineered retro virus that has decimated the human population and turned many into mindless killing machines. It seems to me that the reason a lot of people slated this film was solely because it was not a faithful adaptation of the book it takes its name from. I personally haven't read it and to be honest I don't care if it's faithful or not. A carbon copy adaptation of a book does not necessarily make a good film and vice versa; the two are completely different media. The fact is that I found this pretty enjoyable. Will Smith is quite convincing as a man suffering the loneliness of total isolation and the scenes in the first hour of the film when the "enemy" is still …
