Some people may be turned off by all the jumping back and forth this film does. Luckily the three leads carry enough weight to make this film work.

Beautiful

Watts, Penn, Del Toro...I love when movies cast brilliant actors. At first the movie starts out a little confusing. It takes a little bit to get into the groove of things. But once the story got going I was hooked in. When I read the summary I had a feeling that this was going to be something like Crash or Babel. However, movies like these never fail to be original and different. The acting in this movie carried it from beginning to end. Watts was the most amazing character out of the 3. Penn's role was a bit stalkerish and I kind of disturbing, nonetheless this was top quality acting. The reason I couldn't give it the other half was because it was a little long and the back and forth started to get a little redundant towards the end.

5 Nickels

"21 Grams" is a superb dramatic thriller, expertly laid out and told with incredible conviction. Three individuals (played to genius-level by Sean Penn, Benecio del Toro, and Naomi Watts) is a power-house of emotions that tell the literal and metaphorical weight of the human soul. A touching portrait of life where there are more grey zones than anything, this masterpiece is one that will fall forever under the category of greatness.
