This movie is one that gives me butterflies every time I rewatch it. I can remember the feelings I had as a child when I watch this movie now. No movie is more magical than this adventurous masterpiece. All the spirits are just amazing and have you wishing they were real. The Dust Bunnies, the Totoros, and the Cat Bus are staples of my childhood and have become my child's favorites. This movie has and will stand the test of time and will be hard to match.

Miyazaki breathes life and charm into his signature memorable visuals with a charming tale that blends spiritual fantasy with the reality of children coping with adult issues.

My neighbor Totoro is about 2 young sisters who move to a different country. The bad news is that they live in a haunted house which is very old and looks like it might collapse any second. Also they have a sick mother in the hospital and there father is the only person who can take care of them. Totoro is a giant spirit in which May (the younger sibling) finds out about him. He is a giant spirit who nobody else can see besides May and Sazaki. Besides the point i think this movie would be great for children and adults to watch. It is very interesting and adventurous throughout the whole movie.

By far the sweetest of the Studio Ghibli films I have seen, My Neighbor Totoro is still a cut above most animated fare. Children are guaranteed to fall in love with this, and adults will find it enjoyable as well.

My Neighbor Totoro (Tonari no Totoro)

Finally got the chance to view this with my 1 year old who isn't that interested because of the subtitles but enamored with the beauty of its contents. The plot revolves around professor Tatsuo Kusukabe and his two daughters, Satsuki and Mei. They transfer into a new house, visit their sick mother, and the girls meet magical creatures that have powers and loves nature. The humor with Totoro (leaf, happiness using an umbrella, etc.) was effective, Mei was adorable and the mature Satsuki were well presented. This is one of the most loveable and provocative anime's this reviewer has seen. Score and plot were wonderful and messages of caring for your family member, mother nature giving back and family were exhibited well by Miyazaki. Totoro was even seen in Toy Story 3 because of its wo...

Marvelous and heartwarming!

What more can be said about MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO? Get this movie. Immediately. Not only one of the best animated features, from Japan or otherwise, this is a thoroughly winning original creation from Hayao Miyazaki about two sisters who discover a gentle forest giant in their backyard. Gorgeously animated and imaginative with an emotionally charged subplot involving the girls' frail mother, MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO isn't just a children's story. With a little bit of luck, grown-ups are sure to enjoy it too. Originally dubbed into English in 1993 by Carl Macek's Streamline Pictures, this movie was recently given a brand new dub. I understand that some folks have found the new dub a little disorienting, but personally, I think it's great to have another version of this classic film... and as someon...
