Fear and Desire review

"Let's try to remain civilized." A group of soldiers namely Lt. Corby, Pvt. Fletcher, Pvt. Sidney, and Sgt. Mac get stranded in enemy lines. Could have had better editing, history of the antagonist/protagonists and audio in this reviewers opinion. One of the soldiers were covering the lens of the binocular with a pinky finger while looking at the general. The realistic approach was present though there was not a single lead you were enticed to root for. Screenplay despite some inconsistencies had a few provocative lines such as: "Why is your life so precious?" "Well, we have nothing to lose but our futures." and "Nobody ever was. It's all a trick we perform when we'd rather not die - immediately." One of the best openings for its genre - "Only the unchanging shapes of fear - and doubt - and death - are from our world. These soldiers that you see keep our language and our time, but have no other country but the mind." The score was majestic and applicable while the performances were earnest. The short war film shows promise and locations were wonderful. Fear and Desire may not be one of the director's best, it is still worth viewing for Kubrick fanatics.
