Two quotes that almost symbolizes the premise of the film:"I'm looking for more." and "Life is... too contemporary." Definitely acquired taste and fans of the director's style. It's one of the best paced as well. A very wealthy Eric Packer (Robert Pattinson) is moving around Manhattan to have a haircut with a high tech limousine and bodyguard. Definitely the director's well paced film with subtle touches of skillful directing. Communication is the key to enjoying this film, the rest would follow, which you can feel in every excellently executed movie. Surprisingly you see a different Pattinson, sincere and maddening which fits the role. A few scene stealing moments were the conversations in the final scene with Giamatti and with Samantha Morton (Vija, Eric’s chief adviser)

The screenplay is the real star of the film with quotes: "Why are you here?" and "Your whole waking life is of contradiction." (Paul Giamatti as Richard known as Benno), "Lying's a scandal, but we all do it." "You don't spend a minute of your life worrying about other people." "Wait and learn" (Eric). So many themes going on if observed closely such as lack of passion in a marriage (Sarah Gadon as Elise), social classes (the taxi symbolized), youth's attitude (rave scene), slave driven employee (Benno), boredom/seeking change because of his status of having everything (Eric), technology/future (discussion with Vija), evil's of money (rat symbolized/office=limousine/daily medical check-ups), lack of leadership ("I thought there were more stimulating targets."), violence (talk of weapons with different characters), death (discussion with Jane/Fez) and sanity. Cosmopolis is a thought-provoking drama that needs multiple viewings to fully understand its small greatness. Sometimes simplicity is a grandiose.
