Lucky Number Slevin
Lucky Number Slevin review
3.5/4 stars

Goodkat (Bruce Willis), who tells the story of Max and the Kansas City Shuffle and then kills the man he was talking to in an airport. Slevin Kelevra (Josh Hartnett) is staying in his friend Nick Fisher's place and is abducted by 2 black henchmen. He falls for a neighbor Lindsey (Lucy Liu) and is tasked by "the Boss" (Morgan Freeman) to kill the son of "The Rabbi" (Sir Ben Kingsley). Smith (Bruce Willis) is seen in various killings. Some good lines: The Rabbi - "People are never happy with what they have. They want what they had. Or what others have." Mr. Goodkat - "But sometimes there's more to life than just livin'."

The formula of mistaken identity and hit-man have been presented several times. Only difference here is the direction and lack of an interesting soundtrack to keep up with the scenes. There were a few blasphemous religious lines in the dialogue and pace seems to slow towards the middle. Hartnett did an alright job and the rest always bring their talented acting skills. Had reference to Bond films and North By Northwest. The director shows some promise but the screenplay could have been improved to make it more interesting. Lucky Number Slevin is a wonderful revenge crime thriller with a good twist with a talented cast. Worth looking if you get the chance.
