The Expendables review

Not all action movies have an engaging story/script. Yes there are a few exceptions like Casino Royale, Bourne Ultimatum, Die Hard, T2, etc. Sylvester Stallone (as Barney Ross) has put together a film that had potential to be one of the greatest action films created with its cast alone. Cameos from Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis, his team included Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham, Randy Couture and Jet Li. Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts and Steven Austin rounded up the villains. Heck, only Jackie Chan and Clive Owen were missing. The missions were a blast and seeing each action hero do their stuff was slightly enlightening. However, the depth of the screenplay was imminent, humor was dry, cheesy romantic attempts with the female character were just a few things that went wrong. If only the character build-up was set up, much like Red. The violence was brutal, if it were only done tastefully and with a better cause. Unfortunately, the film’s title really fit.
