Universal Soldier: The Return

Another bad sequel

I liked the original universal soldier, when this one came out I was not exactly sure what I was in for, I was hoping that it would be decent, and unfortunately this was another straight to video flop that shouldn't have been made. The first flaw of this movie is the fact that at the end of Universal Soldier Luc Deveraux (Van Damme) only wanted to get away from the war environment, he wanted to go home and lead a normal life away from what they had made him become.
At the start of this movie he is working for the government and he is trying to help make the UniSol program better... the same program he tried to destroy in the first movie, so the premise already begins in a bad way. The movie just goes down hill from here.
While I can't really watch Van Damme any longer I have come to realize that his action sequences were made for younger kids that don't have the knowledge of what good films really are. Don't bother with this one, it really didn't do anything great for the film industry.

Universal Soldier: The Return Review comment

It's funny you say you can't watch VD anymore -- I used to got nuts for all the damm films when I was 12, and then one day I turned around, (this literally happened -- I was making coffee, I paused, and I turned around) and said "Jesus! What is this awful swag! Would someone please stop this loathsome bile!"
