Decent fan service, if nothing else...

Meh, what did you really expect? There's the Aliens... that part of the movie is pretty predictable. The Predator... again, pretty much what you'd expect. Then there are the humans... a bit too much of them, if you ask me, but they needed a big cast to keep the death count for the movie up.
I'd say the biggest problem with this movie was that it didn't quite get enough of a dose of either film it pulled from...

It was sad that there were three predators at the start of the movie and two of them died before the end of the first action sequence. I was really looking forward to a movie that featured predators working together.
Also, the Aliens just didn't quite 'cause enough carnage. I could have taken one more like... chase through the temple with an Alien and a couple humans or something.
I had high hopes for this, but in the end, it wasn't that "bad", really, it was just watered-down.
