Meirelles Stumbles in the Dark

Maybe they named the movie "Blindness" to describe to the director's state while making this movie. This is so far the biggest disappointment of the year. Great director (Meirelles), great actors, the book it was based on was great, it had a good opening. What went wrong?
I don't know, but the movie got tiresome really quick.
