Philip Seymour Hoffman upstages everyone and even gets to make Ethan Hunt seem naively stupid. This is the most accomplished of the MI series and is a huge improvement over the Woo atrocity. Nobody seems safe from threat, which is good in action spy motifs, and Abrams provides a strong script with chosen yet potent action sequences.
