A great movie that is inspirational and heartfelt. As I salesman I truly appreciated Chris Gardner's fight towards greatness. He loks towards the future for he and his son and works for nothing to better himself and his reputation at Dean Witter. After becoming one of the most successful interns, he receives a job and finds himself able to more than support he and his son. I actually stole his sales technique of never hanging up the phone. The more calls you make, the more no's you hear, get you closer to your next big deal. A movie any sales manager should show to his team to motivate and inspire. |

Will Smith and his bond with his real-life son create the emotional core of this film. Shrugging off his past comedic roles, Smith plays Chris Gardner with a certain devoted desperation that elevates the material. His performance is the best of the film, even though the plot sometimes veers into sappy cliches. |

Biographical drama film based on Chris Gardner's nearly one-year struggle with homelessness. Directed by Gabriele Muccino, the film features Will Smith as Gardner, an on-and-off-homeless salesman-turned stockbroker. Smith's real-life son Jaden Smith co-stars, making his film debut as Gardner's son Christopher Jr.
The screenplay by Steven Conrad is based on the best-selling memoir written by Gardner with Quincy Troupe. The film was released on December 15, 2006, by Columbia Pictures. For his performance, Will Smith was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for Best Actor.Very intense and touchable movie. |

The Pursuit of Happyness review |
|
The story of Chris Gardner and his son. Back in the day wherein the rubik's cube was still booming. Will Smith did a terrific job in portraying Gardner. The future of Jaden is bright as well. One of many memorable lines - "Don't ever let someone tell you you can't do something. Not even me. All right?" "You got a dream, you got to protect it." Reverend Williams - "The important thing about that freedom train, is it's got to climb mountains. We ALL have to climb mountains, you know. Mountains that go way up high, and mountains that go deep and low. Yes, we know what those mountains are here at Glide." The cinematography really brought out the harsh realities in life, the soundtrack was suitable and cast did a descent job. The 2 main leads really lifted the movie on their shoulders.... |

Will Smith's Best Performance? |

The Pursuit of Happiness is the rags to riches story of a struggling father and his five-year-old son. The story begins in downtown San Francisco in 1981. Smith plays a brow-beaten salesman, desperately trying to sell bone-density machines to doctors and hospitals. With an uncertain income and mounting bills, the financial pressures soon become unbearable.Forced to move from his apartment with his son, in search of accommodation, the peripatetic Smith seeks any place to call home. The story tracks the heartache and misery of an exceptionally determined father. With no certainty about where he is headed and a disinterested wife, he must find a way to rise above his poverty. As luck would have it, he applies as an intern at a financial brokerage firm. With no tertiary education and only a d... |
