As usual, it's difficult to know what to expect from a Woody Allen movie. His ideas are so strange and charming and this one was no exception. I had no idea what this story was going to turn into before I watched it but I found myself immediately drawn to it. The ending captured the spirit even though it went completely against everything the audience might have wanted. " I don't know what they're charging you, but those champagne bottles are filled with ginger ale."

Charming light fantasy penned by Woody Allen with a fine cast and witty dialogue. Once again, my enjoyment of Allen's films seems inextricably linked to his on screen absence.

The blend of cinema characters with real life characters is an ode to the escapism of early impoverished America. The scenes with the film characters waiting to continue the plot gets me every time. I give Woody Allen kudos for not attempting to tie the film up with a gooey happy ending, but with ending the film on a necessary and satisfying note

One of the best movies Woody Allen did, where a character jumps out of the movie screen and runs loose in America, during times of depression. Chaos continues when the actor visits the town the character is living in and tries to talk sense into him. Mia farrow, beaten down by her husband, gets lost in her fantasy world.
