Plot Outline:
|
A mid-life crisis strikes Marty the zebra at New York's Central Park Zoo and he makes a break for freedom. Followed by star Alex the lion, Gloria the brash hippo and Melman the hypochondriac giraffe, the four are captured and sent to a wildlife reserve in Kenya. Due to a quartet of meddling penguins, they instead end up in Madagascar where true freedom brings about some surprising changes. -- Chris Kavan

Another decent effort by Dreamworks animation. One of their better films, outside of the 'Shrek' series. I liked the characters and the humor. Though, that song is annoying. |

Above average animation, bolstered mostly by the expansive voice cast and quick pace of the humor. The penguins are priceless. |

This movie needed ritalin. Contains a barrage of 10 jokes a minute, so even when one out of every 10 gags is clever, you only have 6 seconds to chuckle. Great character design however. |

Fun for the entire family |
|
"Marty" (Chris Rock), "Alex" (Ben Stiller), "Gloria" (Jada Pinkett Smith) and "Melman" (David Schwimmer) are different species of animals who live at the New York City Zoo. They are best of friends who live in adjoining habitats.
It's "Marty's" 10th birthday, and he has only one wish. He wants to go to the wild. The rest of the group thinks the comical zebra is insane for wanting to leave the lap of luxury that is the zoo.
"Marty's" dream is bolstered by a group of militaristic penguins who are trying to dig their way to Antarctica. He then breaks out himself to head to Connecticut, which has a beautiful zoo apparently.
