Stephen King has had a banner year, with It, Gerald's Game and Mr. Mercedes being some of the best adaptations from the master of horror. While 1922 may not reach those heights, it is still a good one to watch thanks to the atmosphere and stellar performance from Thomas Jane. The film relies more on the psychological horror aspect than outright scares, but does a good job of capturing one man's decent into madness. A slow burn but well worth your time.

1922 is a pretty faithful adaptation of the Stephen King short story of the same name. The actors did amazing, the dialogue was well written, and the creepy moments in the film were amazing. But 1922 falls a little short with the length. It's a little too stretched out. While that gave them the room to add more details from the story, it also made the movie drag a bit. It's good, but not quite good enough. Still, it's good for horror movie fans and anyone looking for a scare with a flare of family drama.
