Plot Outline:

A pair of stories: the first concerns a young man who leaves Calcutta to works as a postmaster in a Malaria-infested village where he finds solace in teaching a young orphan girl how to read and write. The second is about student who returns home following exams only to find his mother pressing him to get married. Rejecting her choice, instead he marries a lively tomboy, who is not ready to settle down yet. -- Chris Kavan
