A good and respectful effort put in here by everyone involved. The cast is strong, the direction top-notch, and a gripping story. The downsides are that it's a little on the long side and there are parts where things definitely drag. Perfect for WWII buffs and fans of Peter Weir, but I'll admit there were times I was looking at the clock wondering how much time was left. |

"The Way Back" is a drama, adventure and survival combined, of seven men who escape from Siberia under communism and walk for their freedom with limited food and water supply and challenging weather coming their way.
Wow! This is a good one, REALLY! I didn't expect much from this but turned out to be an epic? (would you agree with that?) Really good. Over all picture was outstanding. The actors perform well. Good to see Saoirse Ronan and Colin Farrell- this two characters made the film watchable throughout those parts that possibly ended up boring. However, I didn't fully grasp Janusz' character, he served as the leader but nothing really special to him except that skill of knowing where south is.
But in general, VERY GOOD! :) |

The Way Back Is an Amazing Journey... |
|
The Way Back Is an Amazing Journey for the Viewer to Take as It is Relived on Film by Those Who Lived it.
And, simply put, it's one of the best movies I've ever seen.
The film is a tribute to the strength of the human spirit and the amazing ability of a person to forgive and refuse to give in to overwhelming odds and devastating circumstances.
It shows human beings in their best form, especially in worst and most dire conditions and in spite of the hardship, anguish and despair in which circumstances have placed them.
I'm so glad I stumbled onto the trailer of the movie and watched it because, even though trailers can sometimes mislead the viewer, I could see by the sense and the feel of it, this movie was something very special and unique.
And it has all the superlatives: ... |
