This could have been better if the characters were likable, had a better screenplay and if the white boy who could shoot was featured more. Loved the performance of Nick Nolte, who is a natural screamer (much like Pacino in his films like Any Given Sunday, Dog Day Afternoon, The Insider, etc.). If this were a comedy maybe it could have been well received. Still, the basketball scenes are nostalgic and fun to watch. |

What I would call a safe sports movie. It's somewhat realistic, but not gritty. Using actual basketball players is a good idea - this is definitely Shaq's shining moment on the big screen. Nothing great, but a worth a look. |

However, getting them to sign proves to be a wary task because the only way to get all three is with money and expensive gifts, an illegal form of cheating in the collegiate ranks.
"Blue Chips" is the kind of sports movie where an interest in basketball is recommended to fully enjoy. It can be interesting to see the strategies employed in winning a game, but it's even more interesting to wat... |
