disappointing

I've idolized Amelia Earhart since I was a child, if I had seen this film before I knew anything about her, I don't think I would have.
Hilary Swank and Richard Gere have zero chemistry. I wish they could have shown more of her developmental years, instead of diluting it to one scene of a plane buzzing her farm.
this film was just flat. If your in the mood for a film about flying I'm gonna say skip this one, instead go to the classic section of your local video store and get The Spirit of St. Louis, a movie about Charles Lindbergh's crossing of the Atlantic. You'll thank me later.

Doesn't soar, but decent enough

Hilary Swank plays the legendary aviator and does a pretty good job, but the film falters due to its script. We see several important moments of Earhart's life that all lead up to the doomed flight and her disappearance. Sadly, there's not much of a story in between these moments. Thus, there's little emotional connections made for any character besides Swank, who disappears into the role so well and so convincingly. Lots of beautiful shots and the authenticity of the period is established well. Could have been an amazing movie, but perhaps little is known about Earhart's personal life so they did what they could. As a result, the film is one of those good, could have been better experiences.
