I think this is a semi new take on romantic comedies. It is odd that it referenced The Graduate since it tries to be so similar. I still really like the dude from 3rd rock from the sun. A cute pic worth seeing - better than Adventureland. |

It's like Summer, slightly Humid. |
|
I'll start off saying this movie will without a doubt end up on my 'Favorite Movie Shelf' on my DVD case. Pairing this movie with a freshly brewed pot of coffee, eggs and a some cinnamon/rum bread with sliced strawberries and maple syrup; and I think I had a brilliant beginning to a rainy Saturday.
If you have not seen this movie yet, stop reading here as I intend on (as most reviews do) talking about parts of the movie and I don't want to spoil it for ya.
This flick had me going up in down, in literal and rhetorical senses. The story is largely told non-linearly (which I love in flicks), so you see segments of the two main characters relationship...the good and the bad...inter-cut with each other. Not only was it toying with my emotions in a way, because you basically know how it's... |

Honest, Funny, and Thoroughly Enjoyable. |
|
Very original and funny and actually true to real life! I loved this film for everything in it. It shows you a completely honest look at the scorning of a man by a woman and just how it goes down in a way that would satisfy anyone. I can't recommend this enough. It feels so special to me and will feel that way to most guys who watch it. I watched it twice in a row, cause I loved it so much and didn't want it to end the first time. |

Very well written |
|
A smart script drives this romantic comedy, which explores 500 days in the relationship between Tom and Summer. Jumping in time throughout the relationship, you see how they met, what they experienced, and how things end up. There are some brilliant scenes here and the script never gets too eccentric for it's own good. Good cast as well. |

I Have Hope for RC |
|
I have hope for the romantic comedy. After enduring February's He's Just Not That Into You, I really started to believe that the future for this particular genre, in terms of any sort of artistic appeal or entires that have any weight to them at all, was dismal. There have been some notable offerings over the last year or so in the form of some energetic indie films, but nothing to write home about.
But then comes along first-time director Marc Webb with an enjoyable little number that has, at least for the time being, restored my faith in the rom-com. Remember the bliss that was Garden State? Think of (500) Days of Summer as a slightly more mature, infinitely more whimsical relative of the 2004 Zach Braff hit.
The story follows the exploits of Tom Hansen, a twenty-something who gre... |
