Not Like the Show AT ALL |
Now, most of you who grew up in the 90's, like me, probabely remember Dragonball and Dragonball Z. They were both kickass shows that are still fun to this day. I remember going home after school and turning on Toonami (which Cartoon Network just cancelled-good job CN, you cancelled your best program!) and watching Dragonball and DBZ. Now, I'd say I was definately a bigger DBZ fan, but I also loved Dragonball (the series before DBZ). And now, 20th Century Fox has raped another treasured childhood memory...
PLOT- Goku (Justin Chatwin) is a young teenager with some inner chi who is picked on in high school. One day, the evil Lord Piccolo returns to Earth and kills Goku's grandfather Gohan. Goku travels to learn from the legendary Master Roshi (Chow Yun-Fat), and from then on, the childhoo... |

Dragonball Evolution Review |
The Dragon Ball series is one of the first series that got me into anime in the first place along with Pokemon. As you might guess I'm not that deviant of a fan since Dragon Ball Z was a huge part of my childhood when I saw it on Toonami many ages ago. After that, I have gotten new interests and new series to observe, but I still hold Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z as two of my favorite series. I enjoyed Dragon Ball for its simple adventures and likeable characters and innuendo that I didn't get until I was as old as I was. I enjoyed Dragon Ball Z for its epic battles, cool villains, and not to mention the awesome dub (IMHO at least). Every now and then, I had thoughts about a live action movie being made about either series, but I never actually considered whether or not it would actually... |

Ka-me-ha-me-wuh? |
This movie was disappointing. I was wanting to go in, see my most beloved anime characters and have them beat the snot out of each other for 3 episode lengths. Ugh, but nope. I never get to see these things. This movie was bad in a not so good way. The only problem is knowing where to start this blood bath. Ok, so lets do pros first. The computer animation was really well done in detail, but I felt that talent was wasted. The acting wasn't so hot, and neither was the action. I felt that the movie was portrayed for teens by teens. Nothing (except the computer graphics and costumes) looked professional. Now don't get me wrong, I'll still go see the sequel because I'm such a die-hard Dragonball fan but I don't think this movie was done to what it could have become. I give this movie a .5 out... |
