Oskar falls in love and discovers the heartbreak of the sudden death of his mother, all the while he continues to play his Tin Drum. -- gideon43

Truly unlike any film I've seen - a boy, Oskar (played superbly by David Bennent) just up and decides he isn't going to age anymore. He has a drum he will not relinquish and a scream that shatters glass - set against the backdrop of WWII. Oskar isn't exactly likeable - but neither are the times. Not an easy film to watch, but an important one.

The Tin Drum is an infamous (for all the wrong reasons) movie that fails to follow any formula and scene after scene become unforgettable and slightly disturbing. The novel could (quite rightly) be described as unfilmable but the director refuses to accept this and attacks the editing and cinematography with gusto and cajoles a sustained enthusiasm from the acto...
