The scale of the adventure might be undersized, but the lessons it holds and emotional impact of its ending are bigger than you can imagine.

Film on a fishing boat.

Captain Courageous is a nice film about a spoil kid who learns things by accidentally falling off a boat onto a rough fishing boat. It is a nice story about the boy leaning about various things from a nice fisherman and the captain of the ship. It tells the story of what happens on the boat and the interactions very well, and in a nice fashion. Although the material could be overly schmaltzy it never completely falls into such a pitfall. The ending might wrap things up a bit too neatly but it still is a nice film.
Oscar Win Best Actor Spencer Tracy 1/5- Although Tracy is nice and somewhat entertaining in this is does really do a good acting job. His accent does not stay around many times and his whole characterization is a bit off. This character surely could have been played better …
