The original "teen" drama starring the iconic rebel James Dean. His performance and persona is perfect for this role and it's almost impossible to comprehend its impact at the time, the "teen" being such a ubiquitously acknowledged demographic these days. Nicely (and unusually) neither judgemental nor sensationalist, it still strikes a chord to this day.

This was one of the films that started me on my journey, my love affair with all things film, and so for me, it is a great film, with great performances by Dean, Wood, and Mineo. Also Nicholas Ray's direction was spot on.

Gone too soon James

Jim Stark: "You're tearing me apart!"

Jim's Mother: "What?"

Jim Stark: "You say one thing, he says another, and everybody changes back again".

The story is about a teenager who leaves his old home town to start a new continues to rebel against the rules and conformities while falling in love with someone unlike him.

Since I'm a movie reviewer and in my past reviews I reviewed old classic movies just to add it to the watch collection. But I just notice that I never see Rebel Without a Cause or any of James Dean's movies and this is my first movie I've seen him in and a great one to start on.

Now James Dean at the time was a rising star with the couple of movies that he was in, everybody sawed a bright future in him and even I sawed that while wa...

James Dean Was A Rebel Without a Cause

Rebel without a cause was a film in 1955, that had one of the most influential stars of all time, James Dean. While the movie is film of the times, I feel is one that I can't help but love the story and the characters that the film focuses on. Nicholas Ray is the person that helmed this project, and he knows to show a true depiction of teenagers. I saw this a couple of months and it hit me, how much I saw what everyone is suffering from at the time, the idea of loneliness, trying to fit in, making friends, these are topics that Rebel without a cause doesnt shy away from. Other players in this magnificent film is Natalie Wood, as Judy. Natalie gives an astounding performance as Judy, she shows the suffering that she has to deal with in her home life, but also in her school life. Sal Mineo,...

Rebel Without a Cause review

Jim Stark (James Dean) is a new student in a high-school. Plato (Sal Mineo) becomes friends with Jim. Stark gets bullied by Buzz Gunderson (Corey Allen). After a "Chickie Run" accident, Judy (Natalie Wood) gets close with Jim. The exciting score brought the picture to life while the screenplay and acting were superb. Wardrobe became iconic. Some quotes: Frank Stark - "Watch out about choosing your pals. You know what I mean? Don't let 'em choose you." It's ridiculous how Plato was shot without pointing a gun which was eventually empty. Furthermore, its a bit baffling how easily Jim forgets about his father's shortcomings. James Dean resonates and shows promise. Rebel Without A Cause is a good drama about teenagers coming of age, choosing the right friends, looking for an identit...
