Plot Outline:
|
A popular leader attempts to unite all the gangs in New York City. At a huge rally he is killed and The Warriors gang is fingered for the hit. They must make their way back to their home turf of Coney Island while dodging rival gangs.

This movie could have went to ways for me; it could have been really bad and cheesy (Making it awesome) or it could have been a really good thriller/adventure type movie. It was in between. I enjoyed it, but it is a forgettable movie and didn't live up to my expectations. I will still look up the most famous clip on YouTube now and then; "Warriorrrrsss.... come out to play" |

Classic urban thriller from Walter Hill that sees a street gang under seige from both the police and rival gangs as they try to reach their home turf. Tough, uncompromising and suspenseful. Fans of Assault On Precinct 13 should definitely check this out. |

Horribly acted, terrible score and soundtrack. But, the story is original. I liked the gang aspect and some of the character development. It is an average movie that cult fans will enjoy. |

There are moments of this cult classic that are iconic and inspired, both visually (namely the looks of the various gangs) and dialogue/story-wise. However, a lot of the interaction between the characters seems dated and overacted and those parts can cause the film to drag and are sometimes laughably bad. |

The simple plot of the 1979 cult classic film The Warriors certainly points you in the wrong direction about the movie. When a man named Cyrus tries to join together over 100 different gangs in New York, he is shot and killed during his speech. Being blamed for this killing, Th Warriors fight to get home, as they are constantly distracted by attacks of local gangs, women and others. This plot is yet again, simple. So we watch a whole movie about 8 people getting home to Coney Island. Seems like a waste of time. This movie is awesome. This review is based off of the Directors Cut version of the film, not the original version, so some little things may be off to those who seen the original.

I agree with what the other two users have said. It's a cheesy cult classic, but a good movie nevertheless. I enjoyed it so much that I bought the damn thing. lol. |

There is an all-female gang in The Warriors, so it's not misogynistic. I wouldn't say being female automatically disqualifies you, however, being against totally cheesy cult films would stop you. I thought it was pretty good, in that totally cheesy kind of way. |

It is the start of cheesy 80's classics (even though it was 1979). I liked the movie but I also liked a lot of bad movies like it. |
