Rick Riker (Drake Bell) acquires a certain power when bitten by a dragonfly. His main nemesis is Lou Landers/Hourglass, who uses instruments and explosives. Effects were horrendous, acting by the main lead just not believable, and soundtrack were not enticing. Humor felt childish and moronic at times to the point you question how this type of film existed. You have animals and insects humping Rick, the dead body burned, a few blasphemous lines, Uncle Albert shooting somebody up close, fart scene, a so called Doctor injecting his own hand and the list of idiotic scenes continue. Cheap laughs, lousy plot, and lack of many elements of a decent spoof or even a movie, Superhero Movie just personally didn’t entertain me. |

Earn an extra 1/2 star for actually having a semblance of plot around the lame spoofs, pop-culture references, slapstick, sophomoric humor and getting-paid-for-this cameos. Plus I might have laughed a few times. Awful but not excruciating. |

Enough Roids can make you do anything |

A natural blend of Naked Gun and Scary Movies humor is not as bad as everyone would think. If you're a fan of these types of movies then you would be delighted to see them once again on the big screen. Heading the main cast is Drake Bell who has a natural neck for comedy and did absolute justice to the Dragonfly character in a non-cheap way. It’s also real nice to see Leslie Nielsen back to doing what he does best, slapstick humor. I kind of missed the old days where I laugh my pants off when he played Dracula with Mel Brooks. Supporting actors such as Tracy Morgan, Jeff Tambor and that guy from Happy Gilmore also rack up some very interesting comedic antics. Rip-off movies such as this could not have succeeded without that crucial element of timing. As we all know timing is everything an... |

Superhero Movie (2008) |
|
In 1938 America was introduced to Superman. Ever since then, people have been inspired by superheroes to do the right thing. Now, 70 years later, the world is introduced to a new superhero. But this is no ordinary superhero; he's a superhero making fun of other superheroes, and he's known simply as Dragonfly.
In "Superhero Movie," we get another dose of new-age David Zucker work, complete with unfunny pop culture references and hit-or-miss slapstick. This time we follow Rick Riker, played by Drake Bell, who is bitten by a radioactive firefly and gains superpowers. After a bunch of cameos, he decides to become a superhero and fight the forces of evil. Unfortunately, he's a hazard to himself and others, so he's not really much help.
This film proves just how many jokes you can fit int... |
