A recently incarcerated drug addict tries to begin a new relationship with her young daughter even though most of her family has moved on with their lives. She feels pressure to turn back to the rough times while she battles her parole officer and her brother for life's most precious offering.

Maggie Gyllenhaal is brilliant

Maggie Gyllenhaal disappears completely in the role of the drug-addicted mother recently released from prison who tries to reconnect to the daughter she barely knows. Unfortunately, these scenes are few and far between and the rest feels unimportant. It's nice to see Danny Trejo play a decent guy for a change. Final Grade: C+
